Simple Suggestions to Prime Your Home



Outdoors

  • Mow the lawn & trim the edges of fences, walkways, sidewalks, etc.
  • Trim trees and shrubs and remove or replace dead foliage. 
    Consider using potted plants in the yard, and take them along when you move.
  • Clear leaves, snow, ice, or other debris from your walkways & porches.
  • Sweep away spider webs and insect nests.
  • Roll up and hide all garden hoses.
  • Remove all toys, bicycles, and clutter from the areas to be photographed.
  • Park your vehicles on the street.



 

Entrance

  • Make sure your house number is clearly visible and attractive.
  • Replace a worn mailbox.
  • Wipe down windows to make them sparkling clean. 
    Replace any cracked or broken glass.
  • The doorway is the focal point of your house.
    Repaint or replace your front door to create a good impression. 
  • Shine all door handles and locks.

 

Kitchen

  • Rearrange your pantry and cupboards to create a neat and orderly appearance.
  • Clear the island and countertops to show their spaciousness. 
    Hide all small appliances – they make your counter space disappear.
  • Clear the refrigerator of all photos, sports schedules, calendars, and personal items. 
  • Empty the sink and remove all soap from the surrounding areas.
  • Replace low-wattage light bulbs to make the room as bright as possible.
  • Don’t forget to hide your garbage cans.

 

Living Areas

  • Rearrange your furniture to enhance the room’s overall look. 
    Remove all excess furniture and rugs.
  • Remove magazines, books, and other personal items from visible surfaces
    (such as countertops and tables).
  • Tidy up bookshelves and knickknacks to improve the room’s appearance.


Bedrooms

  • Make all beds and replace bed coverings if badly worn.
  • Remove loose or extra toys and clutter from the kids’ rooms.
  • Clean night stands and side tables.
  • Remove clothing to create an orderly, roomy impression.
